College of Humanities & Social Sciences

            The College of Humanities & Social Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University offers graduates their education through its eight departments: Economics, English, History, Modern Languages, Philosophy, Psychology, Social and Decision Sciences, and Statistics.  In each of these Departments, graduates may earn a variety of degrees.  In the Economics Department, graduates may earn degrees ranging from Master’s in Computational Finance to Master’s of Business Administration.  Graduates in the English Department may earn such degrees as Master of Arts in Literacy and Cultural Studies to a Doctoral Degree in Rhetoric.  The Department of History does not offer a Master’s Degree alone, but graduates may still earn one in the Ph.D. program, where they would earn one while trying to earn their Ph.D.  The Modern Language Departments offers graduates a Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition. In the Department of Philosophy, graduates may earn such degrees as a Master of Science in Logic, Computation, and Methodology and a Master of Arts in Philosophy.  The Department of Social and Decision Sciences offers graduates three fields in which they may study: Behavioral Decision Research; Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Technological Change; ad Social and Decision Sciences.  The Department of Statistics offers such degrees programs as the Master’s Program in Statistics and a Joint Ph.D. Program in Machine Learning and Statistics.  The College of Humanities & Social Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University offers graduates a wide variety of degrees so that they may earn the one that fits their educational preference.
