Stanford University

Stanford was founded in 1885. Stanford University enrolls about 8,000 graduate students. Stanford University is a large research university with many enrollments coming from graduate students. There are 18 Nobel Prize winners that came as a result of Stanford. Stanford University, offers powerful programs in business management, medicine, and engineering. The makers / creators of Google and Yahoo were both from Stanford. Stanford is one of the top colleges in the nation, and high up there in the world rankings. Stanford offers free public transportation and encourages carpooling to its employees. The Board appoints a President to serve as the chief executive officer of the university. The university is organized into seven schools: School of Humanities and Sciences, School of Engineering, School of Earth Sciences, School of Education, Graduate School of Business, Stanford Law School and the Stanford University School of Medicine. Stanford also has an elected student body council. Stanford offers 34 varsity sports (18 female, 15 male, one coed), 19 club sports and 37 intramural sports—over 750 students participate in Stanford sports.
