Rice University
Rice University is a private research university located in Houston, Texas. The undergraduate program at Rice University offers students an excellent education as well as well as many other opportunities. There are nine residential colleges at Rice University, and undergraduates that wish to live on campus are randomly assigned to one. Because undergraduates will stay at the same residential college as an undergraduate, the colleges are enhanced by the students themselves. There are eight academic schools at Rice: the School of Architecture, Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management, Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies, George R. Brown School of Engineering, School of Humanities, Shepherd School of Music, Wiess School of Natural Sciences, and the School of Social Sciences. There are a wide variety of courses in which undergraduates can take, from Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering to Philosophy to Psychology. Undergraduates are offered many research opportunities. Undergraduates can become research assistants to faculty members, do course-based research, community-based research, or by participating in independent study. There are several ways in which graduates may earn financial aid. They can take loans, use federal and state grants, earn merit scholarships, get employed, or participate in the Work Study program. Undergraduates attending Rice University receive a high-level education and many opportunities at hands on experience while working with faculty members.
