McGill University

McGill University is a public university in Quebec, Canada. There are over 33,000 students attending McGill and the 20% of the students are from outside of Canada. The majority of this large mass of students is undergraduates with over 25,000 and the graduates number a mere 8,000. McGill has over three hundred areas of study and their most powerful subject is medicine. McGill has produced a huge quantity of successful chemists, surgeons, and other doctoral professions. McGill is so elite that it is often called a “Canadian Ivy”. McGill has consistently been ranked as the #1 university in all of Canada for several years, and consistently ranks within the top 25 of the world. This university speaks English as its primary language of teaching although more than 45% of the students speak French or another language. Getting into McGill is difficult but nothing compared to Harvard University (USA) or Tsinghua University (China). McGill usually accepts 45% of their applicants while Harvard and Tsinghua accept only 8-15%. McGill has also had their share of Nobel Prizes with over 50 Nobel Prizes awarded to either staff or students/alumni.
