University of Tokyo
The University of Tokyo (Tōkyō daigaku) is commonly known as the premier university; in short, it is the “best” college in all of Japan. According to some sources, Tokyo University is considered to be number one in all of Asia. Tokyo is supposed to be ranked 19th, and in comparison to some other similarly ranked universities, Brown University is 27th, and Princeton University is placed 12th. The University of Tokyo is very immense in size and has five different campuses. These campuses are Hongō, Komaba, Kashiwa, Shirokane and Nakano. The General Library, the Komaba Library and the Kashiwa Library combined supply the students (undergraduates and graduates) with over nine million (9.0+ million) books and reading materials. Due to the internet, a large portion of these can be accessed online. The students of this elite university constantly have in the back of their mind, “pursue practical study”. The president of Japan states that pursuing practical studies will open international gateways. This has not been a failure saying, because Japan has several internationally recognized individuals for their miraculous work. Tokyo University is known for producing high ranked government figures, Nobel Prize award winners, and successful technological scientists.
